ABOUT: Ivan Chai is an ancient and traditional Russian tea made using the leaves of the Ivan chai plant (Chamaenerion angustifolium), otherwise known as fireweed. It has a sweet, smooth, fruity and floral taste, with delicious depth and despite being considered a black tea, it contains NO CAFFEINE, uric acid, oxalic acid, taurine or purine as is common in black, green and white teas. 

Plus, Ivan Chai can be re-steeped for a minimum of 3 times (and up to 5 times) making one of our bags yield at least 57 cups of tea!

Nutrition: This delicious beverage has been said to be teeming with amino acids, micro and macro nutrients, supposedly rich in minerals, vitamins, flavonoids and antioxidants, and has been revered and enjoyed through Russian history for its luscious flavour, believed immune boosting, detoxifying, soothing and healing abilities.

Harvesting: This herbal black tea is wild harvested by hand in small batches in Northern Alberta's Boreal Forests. After carefully sorting and wilting the leaves, they are carefully ground to release the juices before being oxidized for about 2 days. After the careful oxidation is complete, the tea is sun dried and lightly roasted in the oven to create that smooth floral depth that Russia has cherished for millennia!
